Help and FAQFor everyone who uses it

Help, in plain words.

Topic 1

Install

How do I install Time Shift Blur?

Download Imprint for Mac, open the DMG and drag Imprint to Applications. Open it, pick DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro or both, and Act I installs into your editor. Then restart your editor once.

What is the Imprint app? Is that the effect?

No. Imprint is the library: it installs each tool into your editor, keeps it up to date and holds your licence. The effect itself you use in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro, like any other effect.

Where does it show up in my editor?

DaVinci Resolve: Effects › OpenFX › Sem Polak › Time Shift Blur.

Premiere Pro: Effects › Video Effects › Sem Polak › Time Shift Blur.

Which Mac and which editors?

A Mac with macOS 13 or later, with DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro installed.

Windows, iPhone or iPad?

Not yet. It runs on a Mac, inside DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro. Windows is on the list.

How do I remove it?

Open the Imprint library and uninstall the act in one click.

Topic 2

Free, Pro and your key

What's the difference between free and Pro?

Free: 6 looks (Drift, Afterimage, Rising Hum, Whiplash, Footsteps, Lightning) that work as they are, with no controls.

Pro: all 94 looks and every control (streak, pulse, ramp, impact, flicker). €24,95, once.

What does it cost?

Free costs nothing: 6 looks, for good. Pro is €24,95, once, with every look and control and all updates.

Is it a subscription?

No. Free is free for good. Pro is one payment, and updates are included.

Where do I find my key?

In the email you get after buying, and in your customer portal. Open the Imprint library, go to Licence and paste it in.

I see a watermark.

You're using a Pro look or control on a Mac where Pro isn't activated yet. You can try everything that way. Enter your key in the library and the watermark is gone.

I have a new Mac.

A licence covers 2 Macs. Install Imprint on the new Mac and enter the same key. Already on 2? Release one in your customer portal.

Can I get a refund?

Write to us and we'll sort it out.

Topic 3

First steps

How do I use it?

Drop Time Shift Blur on a clip and pick a look. That's it. With Pro you can shape the look further with the controls.

How do I adjust or control the look?

Free looks work as they are: drop one on, done. With Pro you get every control in your editor's effect panel (the Inspector in Resolve, Effect Controls in Premiere): streak, pulse, ramp, impact and flicker. Pick a look first, then shape it.

What are the looks?

Every look is based on something nature already does: a tide, lightning, a heartbeat, an afterimage. The curve next to each look shows how the trail breathes over time.

Does it work on any footage?

It needs movement in the shot: a runner, a car, waves, a hand. On a locked-off shot of a still subject there is nothing to trail.

Topic 4

Updates and feedback

Does it get updates?

Yes. Every tool keeps being worked on after release: better performance, new looks and effects, fixes. Updates come in through the Imprint library, free.

Will an update break my projects?

No. Projects you made keep opening and keep their look.

I have an idea or a wish.

Good. We read every message, and feedback shapes what comes next. Write to us.

What's the next act?

We don't say until it's ready. Join first press and you hear it before anyone else.

Topic 5

Fix it

I can't find it in my editor.

Restart DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro once after installing. Still not there? Open the Imprint library, check that your editor is ticked, and press Install again.

It looks too strong.

Pick a calmer look, like Drift. With Pro, turn down Intensity.

Playback is slow.

The effect looks at several frames at once, so it asks more of your Mac than a colour grade. Use a lower playback resolution while editing, or render the clip. Faster versions arrive through updates.

Something else is wrong.

Write to us with your editor, its version and your macOS version.

Still stuck, or an idea?
